Meet Charlotte
Hello, I’m Charlotte Dickson, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 20 years of experience supporting children, teens, and families. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in both private practice and school settings, helping young people navigate challenges, understand their emotions, and build the confidence they need to thrive.
I believe that every child’s behavior is a form of communication — a window into what they’re feeling inside. My role is to help parents and children interpret those messages, strengthen connection, and create positive change together.
As a parent myself, I understand firsthand the ups and downs of family life. My approach is rooted in empathy, humor, and practicality — meeting families where they are and walking alongside them with compassion and clarity. When I’m not in the office, you can find me being humbled by my teenager or uplifted by my dogs and cat.

My Approach to Therapy

Each child and family brings their own story, strengths, and struggles. My role is to meet you where you are and provide the tools, understanding, and encouragement needed to move forward with confidence.
I use a blend of therapeutic methods — from play and art therapy to help younger children express themselves, to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based practices that support teens in building insight and coping skills.
I believe that healing happens through connection — between child and therapist, and within the family as a whole. That’s why I emphasize collaboration, helping parents and children strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and nurture lasting growth.
Whether your family is navigating anxiety, behavioral challenges, grief, or life transitions, my goal is to provide a psychologically safe, confidential and supportive space where everyone feels seen, valued and empowered.
Supporting Families Through Life’s Challenges
Every child and family faces unique challenges, and my goal is to provide a compassionate space where understanding, growth, and healing can happen together. By working collaboratively, we can uncover what’s beneath the surface and build the tools needed for lasting emotional well-being.
Anxiety & Depression
Children and teens may not always have the words to express their feelings, but they often show them in other ways. Together, we explore these emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and create strategies to bring balance, confidence, and calm back into daily life.
Behavioral Challenges & Emotional Dysregulation
When big feelings show up as big behaviors, it can be hard for both kids and parents to know what to do. I help families understand the “why” behind behaviors and guide children in learning how to manage emotions in healthy, productive ways.
Coping with Grief & Loss
Loss can be confusing and overwhelming for young people. I provide a gentle, supportive environment where children can process their emotions, make sense of their grief, and begin to heal at their own pace.
Adjusting to Family Changes
Transitions like divorce, blended families, or relocation can create emotional turbulence for kids. I work with families to foster open communication, stability, and reassurance as everyone navigates these changes together.
Improving Social & Peer Relationships
Building and maintaining friendships can be challenging for many children. Through skill-building and guided reflection, I help kids strengthen communication, empathy, and confidence in their social interactions.
Collaborative Family Support
Lasting progress happens when parents and children work as a team. I partner closely with families, offering insight, practical strategies, and encouragement to support growth both in and outside of the therapy room.
